Dear Fellow Coach,
Last week Soccertutor.com attended a seminar outlining a comprehensive technical coaching program. The session was run by Concept 4 Football, lead by Ex. West Ham United Technical Development Coach and International director Gwynne Berry.
Gwynne has a lot of strong views on the importance of technical training especially from a young age. Just one of the things he said that made total sense was "You cannot progress to tactical aspects of the game without being technically accomplished"..
He went on to mention a phrase that has been banded around "Let the Game be the Teacher". The reliance of solely coaching through small sided games has a fundamental flaw, unless combined with an extensive technical development program.
However, just working on technical aspects is not enough, why? They need to perform them technically correct.. so the coaching points you give them is what makes the real difference!
So using Tactics Manager Software I've created one of the technical practices for you that Gwynne used at the Concept 4 Football coaching clinic (London Soccer Dome 7 Jun 2011). |
